Itinerary


Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Namo Buddha. Hike to Balthali.

After the early morning breakfast at your Kathmandu hotel, you will be picked up by your guide for the drive towards Namobuddha. Namobuddha is one of the most popular visit points of Nepal where the domestic tourist also loves to make a visit for the getaway from the daily commutes and pollution of the city. Quite popular for the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery aka Namobuddha Monastery, many travelers from around the world visit this monastery for meditation and Buddhism practice. This place is considered to be a sacred Buddhist place where Lord Buddha is believed to have saved a Tiger dying of hunger by giving him his flesh.

From Namobuddha, you will head off for Balthali, a beautiful village with terraced farmlands and greenery. After walking about 3/4 hours, you will reach Balthali Village. After lunch and few moments of rest, walk out to explore this small village. You may hike to Danda Gaon, a typical Buddhist village or reach Pada Gaon to enjoy majestic views of Himalayan Range and green forests of Mahabharat range.

Day 02: Hike from Balthali Village to Panauti. Drive back to Kathmandu.

After breakfast at Balthali with the spectacular views, start hiking to another beautiful Newari Village: Panauti. Newar community people are popular for building temples from centuries and you can get views of wonderful old but fascinating temples here. Get some rest and take time to capture the authentic Newari culture in your camera. Afterwards, get into your car for the drive back to Kathmandu. Trip concludes !!

Commencing this trip

The hiking trip starts from Kathmandu with a drive to Namobuddha, located 40 km east of Kathmandu. From here, you will start hiking to the village of Balthali where you will stay overnight. The next day, a short walk down up to Khopasi will take you to your vehicle for return (you can choose to hike up to Panauti too). After spending some time at Panauti to see the local Newari culture, you will drive back to your Kathmandu hotel.

Best time to do this trip

The best time to do this hike will be around September and October, right after monsoon ends. The weather will be clear and the muddy trails will also get slightly dried up. You will be able to enjoy the rice paddy field farmed in the terraced land and post-monsoon lush greenery around.
